Another Comeback Conference Win for the Beavers

The Pratt Community College men's basketball team traveled to Colby Community College last night, December 7 for a conference matchup. The Beavers entered the game coming off their comeback win over Cloud County on Saturday, December 3 while Colby was coming off a loss at Northwest Tech. 

The first half started with a lot of back-and-forth scoring from both teams, but Pratt was able to pull ahead 28-17 with about five minutes left in the half. The Beavers took a 32-28 lead into the locker room at halftime. Colby pounced on the Beavers early in the second half taking a 35-34 lead in the first two minutes of the half. It was all Colby in the second half as they built a 58-47 lead at the 5:50 mark of the half. The Beavers were not finished as they pulled within five points 55-60 with 3:37 to go.

With just under two minutes, Pratt pulled within two points 62-64 and then finally at the one-minute mark the Beavers tied the game 64 all. Colby would take a two-point lead at the 44 second mark, but Pratt would take a 67-66 lead off a three-point play by Quintin Metcalf. With nine seconds left, DJ Bailey stole the ball was fouled and made one of his free throws. Colby missed their last second three point shot as the Beavers held on to win 68-66. 

Metcalf lead the team with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman Chidiebere Obichere had his first double-double in a Beavers uniform with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Pratt outrebounded the Trojans 46-32 while turning the ball over 28 times. 

Pratt will travel to Great Bend on Saturday, December 10 to face the #25 Barton Community College Cougars. Gametime is set for 4:00 pm.
