The Neosho CC Wrestling traveled to Poteau, OK on Sat. and competed in the Viking Open hosted by Carl Albert State College. NCAA I, NCAAII, NAIA and Junior College programs were all represented in the field of competition.
Jasper Dewey (Fr. Merriam, KS) had an outstanding day, going 2-2. Dewey won his first 2 matches on the front side of the bracket before losing in the quarterfinals.
Ryland Wright (So. Garnett, KS) also went 2-2 on the day as did Buddy Claiborn Fr (Fredonia, KS).
Coach Matt Hansen said "These first semester open tournaments are all about seeking out high level competition and gaining match experience. We had some areas we need to focus on as a team this past week, which we did and the team responded well and it showed in our performance on Sat. As a team we are a little banged up right now and some of our starters did not compete on Saturday. It will be good for the team to get recovered over the Thanksgiving break and come back strong in December."
The Panthers next Competition is on December 3rd at the Drury Open in Springfield, MO
