One of the most thrilling musical experiences at the University of Kansas is back. Collage, the annual concert to help usher in the start of the school year, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Lied Center of Kansas. Admission is free.
The Collage Concert allows the community to experience KU’s vibrant music culture through performances from School of Music students and faculty. This year’s concert features the KU Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Choir, a percussion group, Jazz Ensemble I and the KU Wind Ensemble as well as performances by student soloists and chamber ensembles. The concert always concludes with a rousing performance by the Marching Jayhawks.
“Collage is a potpourri of all that is excellent and fun in the KU School of Music,” said Robert Walzel, dean of the music school. “This is an evening not to be missed.”
Proceeds from the Collage Concert benefit the Student Opportunity Fund, a resource providing essential financial support for KU music students participating in competitions, presentations and conferences nationally and internationally. Additionally, a special fundraiser for the School of Music Student Opportunity Fund will take place in the Pavilion at the Lied Center prior to the evening’s performance. Tickets to that event start at $100, and registration is available online.
