Pratt’s Skaggs Ace Hardware is turning 100 and will kick off its “big 100-year party” Friday, July 1, with free giveaways for customers, sales throughout the store and showing off its fresh coat of paint and new store history plaque.

“Nothing better than a fresh coat of paint! Shout-out to the Paint Pro Plus crew for helping us get geared (up) for our big 100-year party!” Skaggs Ace Hardware wrote on Facebook. Brenda Piester commented: “Congratulations! Your family serves the community with integrity and commitment. Here’s to the next 100 years of building the Skaggs legacy!”

Skaggs Ace Hardware, owned and operated locally by Bill Skaggs, is at the corner of First and Main Street. It’s official address is 107 S. Main Street in Pratt, Kansas.

The 100th anniversary will be celebrated between July 1 and July 3. As part of the celebration, Skaggs is offering free giveaways, while customers can take advantage of sales throughout the store on a large selection of items and food samples.

Giveaways items include a room makeover box, which includes a $100 gift card, paintbrush and tools, booklet and Ben Moore swag, including a Weber Spirit FGrill E-210, a Milwaukee Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Kit and an EGO Power Plus Battery String Trimmer.

Giveaways are limited to one item per household.

“Winners will be announced as followed: Friday, July 1, Milwaukee drill and driver kit. Saturday, July 2, Weber Spirit II Gas Grill and Room Makeover Kit. Sunday, July 3, EGO Cordless String Trimmer,” Skaggs Ace Hardware said on Facebook. “Come in the store and enter your name!”

In March, the store posted on Facebook its newly hung plaque created by Dick Bixler, which explains the history and showcases the evolution of the store’s name and owners as it has been passed down from one family member to the next.
